SAFETY FEATURE ACOUSTIC VEHICLE ALERTING SYSTEM (AVAS) NOW STANDARD ON ALL MODEL YEARS OF THE MARUTI SUZUKI GRAND VITARA
A new safety feature known as the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) has been integrated into the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the largest automaker in the nation, has added the cutting-edge safety feature Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) to its premium mid-size SUV, the Grand Vitara. By warning nearby pedestrians and drivers of the vehicle's presence at crucial moments, this cutting-edge technology hopes to make streets safer for everyone. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara already has a long list of safety features, and this additional addition is a welcome bonus.
The AVAS system, in case you were wondering how it works, sends out a soft alert sound that may be picked up from up to five feet away from the car. This alerts pedestrians and surrounding motorists to the Grand Vitara's presence and helps keep them safe. Due to their low noise levels when in motion, electric and plug-in electric vehicles benefit greatly from the adoption of AVAS. The Grand Vitara will use AVAS in an effort to reduce traffic collisions and save lives.
The ex-showroom costs of the light hybrid Grand Vitara trims have remained the same, but those of the strong hybrid Zeta+ and Alpha+ variants have increased by Rs 4,000. The Zeta+ model is now priced at Rs 18.29 lakh, while the top-of-the-line Alpha+ model can be purchased for Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
In related Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara news, the mid-size SUV's stellar sales performance is still making headlines. The Grand Vitara has solidified its position as the country's second best-selling mid-size SUV, outselling even the Kia Seltos, which was previously in first place. The car sold 10,486 units in June 2023, establishing a firm foothold in the increasingly competitive mid-size SUV market.
The Grand Vitara also helped the company generate monthly sales of 8,662 units in January 2023 and a staggering 10,486 units in June of same year. Over the course of the year, Grand Vitara sales have remained steady. The Grand Vitara has sold an incredible 69,758 copies between June of 2022 and the end of the first six months of 2023.
The Grand Vitara continues to have a sizeable advantage over its nearest rival, the Kia Seltos. The Grand Vitara outperformed and outsold the Kia Seltos (which sold 39,892 units in the same time period) by a wide margin. The Grand Vitara has also significantly outperformed competing mid-size SUVs like the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
Both a mild hybrid and a powerful hybrid engine are available for the Grand Vitara. Only the mild hybrids with manual transmissions offer all-wheel drive, while the front-wheel-drive models come standard. There are two gearbox options for this powerplant, a 6-speed torque converter automatic or a 5-speed manual. The 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder K15C gasoline engine (102 bhp-137 Nm) and SHVS (Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System) mild hybrid unit work together to power the vehicle. The mild hybrid has a regenerative braking system and an idle-stop function.
A 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine (91 hp-122 nm) and an electric motor (78 hp-141 nm) make up the powerful hybrid powertrain. The total output is 114 bhp. The Grand Vitara can be driven for around 25 km on battery power alone thanks to the powerful hybrid powertrain's all-electric mode. The powerful hybrid Grand Vitara is front-wheel drive only and features a continuously variable transmission (CVT) as standard equipment across the board. The robust hybrid's fuel efficiency of 28 Kmpl easily outperforms that of diesel vehicles.
